digital scales

One of my favorite tools in the kitchen is a digital scale that allows for toggling between U.S. and metric measurements. As most avid bakers know, measuring dry ingredients by weight produces more consistent results than the spoon, level, pour method of measuring ingredients. I particularly enjoy the time saving benefit of measuring by weight. Pouring ingredients into a bowl is faster than filling measuring cups and it cuts down on the dish washing in the end. The added benefit of having both U.S. and metric measurements available is the ease in using recipes originally formulated using the metric system. Most digital scales sold today accommodate 5-11 pounds and allow the user to go back to zero after the addition of ingredients to the bowl.
