the megaphone

Being a blogger myself, I find I spend an ample amount of time reading other blogs as well. Amazingly, I’ve found that not all the other blogs I find interesting have something to do with food!

Poking around on Fair Review, I found The Megaphone. The Megaphone is all about being able to share one’s own opinion. After all that’s half the reason so many of us are out there reading. We’re reading so we can share. I have to say I agree with Ryan, the blogs author, that the comments of many blogs are what make the blogs most interesting.

To get comments going, Ryan poses a question sure to solicit an answer. Many of Ryan’s questions revolve around humorous or “light” topics, but of course the one that really got my attention was about free range vs. intensive chickens. If you’re unsure of the difference or why you should care, Ryan includes a link to a BBC broadcast that inspired him to post the question.

I think the blog has a great format for encouraging people to share their opinions on a wide range of subjects. Fun reading indeed.

  • Great find! I agree wholeheartedly that comments are often the most engaging part of a blog.  And how simple it is to post a short follow up question to get readers actively involved in conversation.  I would love for my blog to act as more of a conversation starter than static informational source…yet I never thought to ask readers to share their thoughts or experiences to get the ball rolling (funny how such basic tactics sometimes evade us).  I’ll definitely start doing this myself-thanks for the info!
