Get primed for the harvest season by learning the basics of canning and freezing. In this class we will prepare strawberry jam in addition to learning safe handling of food to be preserved in cans. We will talk about preparing food for freezing and which method works best for the fruits and vegetables of your choosing. Each participant will go home with a jar of homemade jam and recipes for fresh corn relish and homemade salsa. Both recipes are well suited to the beginning home canning enthusiast.

Learn how simple and easy it is to prepare small batch preserves, and get ideas for turning an average preserve into something exciting by adding herbs, spices and wines to your fruit! During the class we will discuss basic equipment and techniques before creating our preserves. Each participant will go home with a jar of freshly made fruit preserves.
